Handmade Table Numbers - Using Scrap Wood
Table numbers are a simple yet often overlooked detail that can add a charming touch to your wedding decor. By creating your own rustic table numbers, you can save over $20 with minimal effort.
Using scrap wood from our garage, my husband cut rectangles to the desired size using a jigsaw (6 inches by 2.5 inches). After cutting, we sanded down the edges for a smooth finish. I then stained both sides of each piece with a rich mocha color, which I love for its dark, elegant look. Once the stain dried, I handwrote each table number on one side using a Sharpie oil-based marker. If you prefer a uniform font or aren't confident in your handwriting, you can also use a stencil or a Cricut machine for this step.
This DIY project is highly customizable with various colors and shapes. If you don't have access to a saw or scrap wood, you can purchase pre-cut blank pieces in different shapes and sizes on Amazon to design as you wish.
Cost Breakdown:
Wood: Free – repurposed from the garage
Jigsaw: Free – already owned
Stain: $12.97 - I was able to use this same color for a variety of projects, with this I barely made a dent in the can.
Sharpie Acrylic Paint Markers: $8.57 for set of 3. This project also took maybe 1/2 of one marker.
Total Cost: Minimal, with most materials repurposed or already on hand. If I had to estimate I would say around $2.00
